Producer of Marketing and Distribution: Sally Hodgson (Pipoca Pictures) connects artists and filmmakers with their audiences. Previous credits include Communications Executive for EM Media on Shane Meadows’ BAFTA winning This Is England.

I started working with Jeanie on SOUND IT OUT when she’d just launched her first crowdfunding campaign, bringing on-board partners to support our campaign, corresponding individually with each of our backers, connecting the project through social networking, identifying people who might be interested in hearing about the project and building up the number of Facebook fans.

When SOUND IT OUT got into SxSW I devised a grassroots marketing campaign to promote the film, for example the mobile jukebox came about through my connection with the guys at Crosley Radio and I also organised the instore at End of an Ear in Austin.

During SxSW we were approached by the UK Film Council/BFI to apply for support through the P&A Fund to do a UK theatrical release of SOUND IT OUT supported by a fourth and final crowdfunding campaign.

I brought on the wonderful FreemanPR to help promote this final crowdfunding campaign and the beginning of the UK cinema release. I organised a national press screening for the theatrical release and dealt with cinema programmers, negotiated box splits, scheduled the tour, organised the logistics of our supporting events (live bands, Djs) and connected with the independent record store in the cities where SOUND IT OUT screened.

See Pipoca Pictures for more information on audience engagement and distribution.

    Hey Alec

You should book a pop-up screening over in Tours or get yourself a copy of the DVD from our shop… Not many left now but it does come with baby blue 7″ vinyl!

Synopsis

Glimmer Films in association with Sideshow present a film by Jeanie Finlay; SOUND IT OUT.

Over the last five years an independent record shop has closed in the UK every three days.

SOUND IT OUT is a documentary portrait of the very last surviving vinyl record shop in Teesside, North East England.

A cultural haven in one of the most deprived areas in the UK, SOUND IT OUT documents a place that is thriving against the odds and the local community that keeps it alive. Directed by Jeanie Finlay who grew up three miles from the shop.

A distinctive, funny and intimate film about men, the North and the irreplaceable role music plays in our lives.

High Fidelity with a Northern Accent.
